Airline Gives Amazing Gift To Baby Boy Born On Flight

At 36 weeks pregnant, when Cristina Penton boarded a Spirit Airlines plane from Ft. Lauderdale to Dallas, she thought it would be smooth sailing. However, less than an hour into the flight, she started having contractions.

Thinking it was too early for her baby to come, she didn't do anything, but after a few minutes she realized she needed medical attention.

Fortunately, the flight attendants, as well as a pediatrician and a nurse on board the flight, helped deliver Cristina's seven-pound baby boy, who she named Cristoph Lezcano.

The flight was diverted to New Orleans where Penton and her newborn went to the hospital. There, officials from Spirit Airlines visited them and gave Christoph an amazing gift - free flights for life on his birthday each year with the option to bring a guest.

A statement from the airline said, "A baby being born during a flight is very rare but our flight attendants are trained to handle medical emergencies in flight and they have access to doctors on the ground via inflight communication. In this case we were fortunate to also have a pediatrician on board who brought even more care and comfort to the situation."

The airline also revealed that they're planning a sale in honor of the baby.
